Individual & Family Therapy

Therapy can provide a space to slow down, understand what is

happening beneath the surface, and develop new ways of responding

to yourself and the people you care about.

I work with adolescents, adults, and families around concerns that may include:

  • Anxiety and emotional distress

  • Emotional regulation and stress

  • Family conflict and communication

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Parenting challenges

  • Life transitions

  • Interpersonal patterns

  • Identity and developmental transitions

  • Adjustment to significant changes

  • Concerns related to adolescent development

Therapy is individualized to the person or family in front of me. My goal is not to give you a script for how to live, but to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

My Approach

Evidence-based therapy with a relational perspective

My clinical approach draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), while also incorporating perspectives from attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and nervous system regulation.

This means we may look at:

  • What are you thinking? How do your thoughts influence your emotions and behavior?

  • What is happening within your nervous system? How does stress or emotional activation affect the way you respond?

  • What is happening between you and other people? How do relationships, attachment patterns, communication, and interpersonal dynamics influence what you're experiencing?

  • What patterns do you want to change? What happens repeatedly—and what might it look like to respond differently?

I believe meaningful change happens when we can understand both the individual and the relationship systems they are part of.

Therapy for Adolescents

Adolescence is a significant period of development. Teens are navigating increasing independence, identity, relationships, emotional changes, and new expectations while still needing connection and support from the adults in their lives.

Therapy can provide adolescents with a space to explore their experiences, develop coping and communication skills, understand their emotions, and work through challenges.

When appropriate, I also work with parents and families to better understand the relational dynamics surrounding the adolescent.

The goal isn't simply to change the teenager. It's to understand what is happening within the teen, within the parent, and within the relationship.

Family Therapy

Sometimes the concern isn't located within one person. Family patterns, communication, stress, transitions, and unresolved conflict can affect everyone in the system.

Family therapy can help family members:

  • Understand one another more effectively

  • Identify patterns of interaction

  • Improve communication

  • Navigate conflict

  • Strengthen connection

  • Establish healthier boundaries

  • Repair relationships

The goal is not to determine who is right or wrong. It is to understand the pattern and create opportunities for something different.

Parenting Consultations

Support for parents who want to parent differently

Parenting consultations are educational and supportive sessions focused on helping parents better understand their child's or teenager's behavior and their own responses within the relationship.

Topics may include:

  • Parenting through adolescence

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Anxiety in children and teens

  • Parent-child communication

  • Boundaries and discipline

  • Co-regulation

  • Parenting from a place of greater intention

  • Breaking generational patterns

  • Understanding behavior beneath the behavior

Parenting consultations are distinct from psychotherapy and are intended for parent education and support rather than treatment of a mental health disorder.

A Note About Therapy

Therapy is a collaborative process. There is no single approach that works for every person or family, and treatment is tailored to the individual's or family's needs.
